Today was our last full day in Hungary and we had our longest bike trip (24 KM) to a new city for us, Szentendre. It’s a small town north of Budapest on the bank of the Danube. It is known for its artists, museums and small shops. We had lunch, explored the town and then headed back to Budapest. As a new twist, we rode WITH our bikes on a train. Once back to Budapest, we returned our bikes to the bike shop. We ended our experience with dinner and a hiked up Gellert Hill to Liberty Statue. We all didn’t go down the hill the same way; but we all did make it down. Tomorrow, we will be back in Michigan. It's bittersweet to leave such an amazing city; yet, it will be good to be back home.

Thank you Ms. Hehs and Mr. Van for all that you did to allow Hungary to be their classroom. Travel, adventure, and challenges outside of some comfort zones with caving, urban and long distance biking among other things is the best learning. Your commitment ran deep and you could see in the girls warm smiles from photos and hear in the laughter on their funny videos or read their descriptive blogs filled with unbridled enthusiasm that you two worked really hard to elevate this only at Ash experience into something extraordinary . Not everyone holds the patience and credentials to create a real world classroom in a foreign land and devote their full attention to fulfilling the dream of an authentic and eye-opening experience full of acquired knowledge brought on by well thought out itinerary choices.
